🩵📘 #AbsurdTheatre

Minimal-shading color illustration of Eric, Ayumu, Bianka, Yanhua, and Canan from The Absurd Theatre of Eric Hanada. Eric sits nonchalantly looking at an open book he's holding, one arm around Bianka, whose limbs and mouth are stitched up. Ayumu clings to Eric, obsessively looking up at him. Yanhua is in the back, grinning as she looks at the contents of the book. Canan is only seen from behind, her ponytail swaying to the side. Text reads: 2026.10.18, Happy Birthday, Eric

"Angel" is the German word for "fishing rod" #AbsurdTheatre #rkgk

Chibi sketch of (from left to right) Yanhua, Bianka, Eric, and Ayumu. Yanhua and Bianka are wearing angel costumes with cheap halos and wings. They're looking unimpressed at Eric, dressed casually in black, holding up a fishing rod with taiyaki bait that Ayumu is about to take happily. Ayumu's halo is dripping suspiciously, and both it and his wings are dark. Eric looks mildly confused at Bianka, with a speech bubble showing the German flag and a question mark. Bianka simply replies, "No."

audience favorite #AbsurdTheatre

Color illustration of Ayumu from The Absurd Theatre of Eric Hanada. In the bottom left corner, he is shown with black hair, wearing a business suit, looking unhappy and nervous. A bright magenta arrow points to him posing in the spotlight, smiling brightly in his present look in the story, hair dyed a light brown and wearing femme clothing. He is surrounded by pink glowing butterflies. There's text reading "A-yu-mu! A-yu-mu!"

Doodle of Eric and Ayumu, largely black-and-white with pink accents. Eric is about to bite into an apple, asking, "You know I'm not a vampire, yes?" Ayumu tilts his head and tugs at his shirt collar to expose his neck, asking, "Are you sure?"

how THAT scene should've gone #AbsurdTheatre (spoilers)

Black-and-white 3-panel comic labeled "The Alternate Theatre of Ayumu Kuroaki #2". Eric and Ayumu are having a magic fencing moment of crossing blades, surrounded by spirit butterflies. Panel 1: Eric, angry: "Then stop it! Just be Ayumu! Just be my annoying, exhausting, selfish, suicidal, attention-whoring friend and TALK to me!" Panel 2: Ayumu, scoffing: "You still want to talk? Find a solution? For a jolly life, a happily ever after?" Panel 3: Ayumu, leaning into Eric's personal space, blushing: "Maybe if you also call me your pretty little slut?" Eric, visibly done with his shit: "Ayumu."

interrogation / the sensory nightmares of eric hanada #AbsurdTheatre

Black-and-white split-screen illustration of two sides of an interrogation table, with a single dangling light bulb separating the views. On the left, at a Dutch angle, Bianka stands confidently with her hands on the table and Eric sits shielding his face from the light, both in suits. On the right, Yanhua sits looking more than a little dubious of her current predicament. [Alt text adjusted from original by ebook producer subvertebra.bsky.social]

A commission I did over half a year ago for my dear friend @caede.sanctuary17223.com for their book The Absurd Theatre of Eric Hanada!

(ooh, the times when only very few people knew Ayumu existed!)

#AbsurdTheatre #illustration

A digital illustration of Eric and Ayumu. They are in the background in the upper half of the image. Ayumu looks crazed and pretty unwell ngl, Eric holds up a spider lily and looks really cool doing magic with his eyes closed. In the lower half you can see them sitting on a bench. Ayumu is bashful that Eric deigns to touch him. Eric just looks at straight-faced.

who was the best cast member of act I and why was it ayumu #AbsurdTheatre

Black-and-white illustrated cast page for Act I, with theatre curtains pulled open to reveal a starry night sky, the full moon high overhead. Beneath the moon, the cast list is: Eric Hanada: Actor, witch hunter. Bianka Dorn: Eric’s fiancée, witch on hiatus. Kuon: Magic cat. Yanhua Liu: Actress. Haruto Mitsuguchi: Police inspector. Kouki Wakao: Film director (stone-dead). Korone Hanada: Eric’s mother. Sonja Kasuga: Eric’s manager. Theo and Ruby: Shopkeeper and part-timer. Makoto Hibiki: Costume designer. Suzuki-san: Lawyer (not Bianka). Tanaka-kun: Paralegal (not Eric). Xuli Zhou: Lawyer (legitimate). At the very bottom of the list is Ayumu Kuroaki, whose role is obscured by the trailing, dripping-ink scarf of a thin man exiting stage right. He has short hair and wears a black beret, puff-sleeved white blouse, and a short graveyard-themed pleated skirt. [Alt text by ebook producer subvertebra.bsky.social]

how that scene should've gone #AbsurdTheatre

Black-and-white 3-panel comic labeled "The Alternate Theatre of Ayumu Kuroaki #1" Panel 1: Eric sits on his hospital bed; his eyes are out of frame. "Hey, Kuroaki-kun." "Hmm?" "Now that we've saved each other's lives and everything ..." "Mh-hmm." Panel 2: Eric, with a nonchalant look on his face, asks: "Why don't we fuck-" He's interrupted by a very happy-looking Ayumu yelling: "YES!" A third speech balloon finishes Eric's sentence: "-the script." Panel 3: Contrasted against a fully black background, Eric folds his hands. "Why don't we fuck THE SCRIPT and go by our first names?" Ayumu looks over his shoulder, smiling awkwardly. "It would be my pleasure, Eric."
