🌊 All #MPAs are within EEZ, i.e. border areas
🌊 hard to monitor, i.e. plenty of illegal activities
🌊 Some include critical infrastructure (cables)
Rules & enforcement should support security. #30x30

Protected on paper does not mean protected in practice, a new analysis of tropical countries warns as oil/gas concessions overlap nearly 61 million hectares of protected areas
