Nishizaka (Nagasaki) is the Site of the Martyrdom of the Twenty-Six Saints of Japan.
When Christianity was banned in the 16th century,
6 Franciscan missionaries and 20 Japanese Christians were crucified here after being forced to walk 850 kilometers from Kyoto.
