Cathedral of Stone and Sky "A towering wall of red sandstone rises like a frozen flame against a flawless blue Colorado sky. The rock face is jagged and dramatic, its edges sharp enough to look carved by some ancient, deliberate hand. Sunlight pours over the formation, warming it into deep oranges and rusty reds that seem to glow from within. Vertical striations run down the stone like the ribs of a colossal creature, revealing layers of sediment pressed together over millions of years. At the base of the formation, clusters of green trees gather like spectators — their soft needles and rounded shapes a gentle contrast to the rock’s fierce geometry. The trees appear small, almost humbled, beside the sheer height of the sandstone spire. The air feels dry and clear, the kind of crispness you only get in the high desert foothills around Colorado Springs. This formation resembles the Cathedral Spires, one of the iconic rock structures in Garden of the Gods.
