After today’s picture description, l have written a poem based on this capture.

A striking black-and-white photograph captures three elongated leaves lying against a rough, textured stone surface.

The leaves emerge from a single slender stem, spreading outward like the fingers of a hand. Two point upwards while the third curves gently to the right.

Their surfaces are covered with dozens of water droplets, ranging from tiny beads to larger rounded drops.

In the monochrome image, the droplets appear bright and silvery against the darker leaves, making them the most prominent feature of the composition. Fine veins run along each leaf, adding delicate detail and texture.

The rough stone beneath provides a dramatic contrast to the smooth leaves and perfectly rounded droplets.

Strong light and deep shadows give the photograph a quiet, almost sculptural quality. A simple moment in nature has been transformed into an intimate study of texture, light and water.

Finally, today’s picture is finished with a simple white board frame. And now for my poem…

 I call it….After the Rain

Three leaves rest upon the earth,
holding the morning in their hands.
Each droplet catches a fragment of light,
a tiny world suspended in silence.

The stone is ancient beneath them,
rough and weathered,
while the leaves remain delicate,
their veins carrying the quiet story of life.

Nature needs no grand canvas.
Beauty can be found
in a drop of rain,
a trembling leaf,
a moment after the storm.

And for a little while,
the ordinary becomes extraordinary,
the earth glistening,
the leaves breathing,
and the world reminding us
how beautiful it is simply to be alive.
Morning view on the River to Ridge Trail. The trail cuts down the middle of the photo and arcs to the right there are trees on the left and the grass has an orange/ocher Hugh. There are streaky clouds in the sky and you can see the early morning sun.
Color photograph of a sunset over water, with the sun partially hidden behind a dark mountain silhouette on the horizon, glowing orange and red. Layered storm clouds fill most of the sky above, transitioning from dark blue-gray to warm orange near the horizon. Calm, dark water fills the foreground with faint reflected light.
The image shows a container port at dusk, its ship-to-shore gantry cranes rendered as stark black silhouettes along the quay. The low sun leaves a warm orange band on the horizon that fades into deep blue above, while the dark steel structures dominate the frame with their angular, almost calligraphic geometry. The calm water and dark foreground anchor the composition, creating a strong figure-ground contrast typical of industrial dusk photography. The mood is quiet and contemplative, the working day winding down, with the cranes reading as monuments of global trade against the soft gradient sky. Horizontal layers of water, cranes and sky lend the image depth and stability.

Freshly ploughed fields fill the foreground - a mix of brown earth and scattered yellow straw storks from the harvest. A line of distant trees and low hills mark the point where earth meets sky where there is a thin band of orange and yellow which fades into the blue sky which fills the top half of the image filled with wisppy white translucent clouds. The sun is just peeking out over a slight dip in the distant low hills just the the left of centre. My favourite twin Oaks stand out above the horizon towards the right hand edge of the image. It was a fresh slightly chilly start to the day today and I could feel the cold air on my face and hands and in my nostrils early signs of the changing season as Autumn takes hold. A very peaceful and calm morning :)
