After today’s picture description, l have written a poem inspired by this capture.

Our photograph captures a beautiful sunset over the sea on the West Sussex coast in southern England.

The brilliant golden sun hangs above the distant horizon, illuminating a vast sky that transitions from warm amber near the water to deep blue-black overhead, with wisps of cloud drifting across the darkness.

A shimmering pathway of silver and gold stretches from the sun across the gently rippling sea towards the shore.

In the foreground, a coastal promenade and concrete sea defences follow the water's edge, bordered by dark metal railings that cast long, delicate shadows across the ground.

A solitary figure sits quietly by the railings, gazing out towards the ocean.

The striking contrast between the radiant sky and the shadowed foreground creates an atmosphere of profound stillness,
solitude and peaceful reflection.

Finally, our picture is finished with a simple white border frame. And now for my poem.

I call it…Where the World Falls Silent

The sun descends into the waiting sea,
And the restless world grows quiet.
Golden light dances upon the waves,
As evening gathers around me.

No hurried footsteps, no voices calling,
Only the ocean breathing against the shore.
The horizon holds the last of the daylight,
And asks nothing of me anymore.

Here, beneath the endless sky,
My thoughts drift gently with the tide.
For serenity is not the absence of storms,
But finding somewhere peaceful inside.

And as the final light fades away,
I let the day's burdens disappear,
Resting in the quiet embrace of the sea,
Grateful simply to be here.
