Our picture is a vibrant street scene at night is illuminated by numerous lights and neon signs in the heart of Amsterdam. Dominating the top of the frame is a large, illuminated sign that reads "LEIDSEBUURT THEATERBUURT" (Leiden Neighborhood Theater District in English) in glowing yellow letters, flanked by two ornate, illuminated theater masks. Below this, a dazzling canopy of warm, golden lights arcs across the street, creating a tunnel effect. The buildings lining the street are dark, but their facades are adorned with a variety of colorful signs, including a green neon sign for "COFFEE SHOP," a red and white sign with a plus symbol, and a circular green sign with the Heineken logo. The street itself is paved and reflects the vibrant lights. Several people are visible, some walking, others standing in small groups. There are also several bicycles parked along the side of the street, and at least two electric scooters or mopeds that appear to be in use, one with a rider. The overall atmosphere is lively and festive, with the abundance of lights of a popular nightlife or entertainment district. The mood is energetic and inviting, despite the darkness of the night. The composition draws the viewer's eye down the illuminated street, with the signs and lights creating a sense of depth and excitement. The colours are dominated by a warm palette of yellows, oranges, and reds from the lights, contrasted with the deep blues and blacks of the night sky and building shadows. Finally, our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.

We look at a crossing of canals (Grachten) in Amsterdam at night. The place is fairly well known among city photographers. The exposure was timed so long (20 sec) that it made the passing boat disappear leaving just streaks of light. The historic buildings along the canals are also beautifully lit.

Only the head of a small House Sparrow is lit by the morning sun as the restraints body remains shrouded in shadows as it sits on a metal perch at the base of a seed feeder that is designed to foil squirrels.
