Fluorescent tube lights glow near a Tesla coil because of the powerful wireless electromagnetic field it creates.
When the Tesla coil is active, it generates a high-voltage, high-frequency electric field in the surrounding air. This field is strong enough to interact directly with the gases inside the fluorescent tubes.
How it Works
• Gas Ionization: The intense wireless electric field forces the electrons inside the tube's low-pressure gas (usually mercury vapor and argon) to separate from their atoms, creating ions.
• Ultraviolet Light: As these free electrons collide with other gas atoms, they excite them. When the atoms return to their normal state, they emit invisible ultraviolet (UV) light.
• Visible Glow: This UV light hits the phosphor coating on the inside of the glass tube, causing it to fluoresce and emit the bright, visible light you see—all without any wires or physical connection to a power source.
Italian Restaurant
A square, close-up photograph of a vibrant glowing neon-style sign mounted on clear acrylic hanging in a window. The sign reads 'GOOD FOOD GOOD MOOD' in four stacked lines, each in a different bright luminous color: 'GOOD' in hot magenta-pink at the top, 'FOOD' in electric cobalt blue, the second 'GOOD' in vivid lemon yellow, and 'MOOD' at the bottom in warm white. Reflected tree branches and soft urban shapes appear in the glass background behind the radiant lettering.

Nighttime street scene in Las Vegas with a building covered in bright, vintage‑style neon signs. The signs glow in saturated reds, blues, yellows, and greens, stacked and overlapping in a dense collage. Words include “Apollo Motel,” “Strand,” “Bowl Open Lanes,” “Shoes,” and “The National Juvenile Shoe.” Neon illustrations show a bowling pin, a blue‑dress showgirl, a classic car, and a large shoe. The dark sky makes the neon colors pop, giving the whole façade a nostalgic, mid‑century Vegas feel.
