SCSD is lying about the officer assignments.

@plsma.bsky.social has documentation PROVING some were assigned to SERT (the violent response unit) & continue using force, including on Shacoby's unit 3-4.

In a statement Thursday night, a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Department said, "The officers who were involved in the Shacoby Kenny response were immediately reassigned out of the unit, and were not assigned to any response teams in the building. As part of the Department's process of continued evaluation and assessment, eleven officers were later reassigned to non-inmate contact posts shortly after."

Two months later, the city council in Chicopee, Massachusetts, approved a five-year, $837,500 contract with Peregrine, to be paid using opioid funds. Chicopee was among the western Massachusetts cities hit hardest by the opioid crisis, and in 2024, it still had the second-highest overdose rate in Hampden County.
