Even after reading these the first time and second time, and over and over. I still don't understand what the bottom half translation is supposed to be. #hwa4 #yingelishiparty

'oh my god' is what an english speaker would hear and the actual translation of the lyric sung was 'oh! a cake sakesman!' this is easily my favorite example in the entire video. must be acknowledged, i am obsessed. #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
#hwa4 #yingelishiparty Both the first and the second time listening through this it is always surprising when it goes from the transition to instruments to the singing and how it really does sound like English!
So I would say that I felt this recording “hit my forehead,” where I tried to consciously think and attempt to understand what was being spoken. #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
To me, when I compare my listening of this recording versus everyday English language, I feel that English flows more naturally into my ears. Whereas any other language I do not speak, not just in this recording, makes me “think” a lot harder about what is being said. #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
trying to understand what this listening experience would be like for someone who spoke both languages and truly cannot grasp how different that must be from my experience #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
At this point my brain switches to nonsense mode because I cannot seem to hear the English translation let alone the Chinese translation.
lol slowed down did NOT have a similar effect...would not recommend #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
Looking at the English side, I feel like a speaker. Looking at the Chinese side at the same time makes me feel like a stranger. This is something I have never experienced before. #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
I sped the video up and instantly heard every english word clear as day. It is insane what mere pauses and spacing between syllabus does to sentences. the translated version becomes immediately lost and the music is clearly distorted but yet something familiar arises. #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
The instruments in the background seem to help her hold different pitches, which helps me follow her better. Without them, I think I would get lost in the sounds of the instruments.
they really lost me during the "Travel" segment. My brain just melted into the instrumental and refused to search for the english #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
during the 'gratitude' segment i focused on just reading the translated version and had to tune out the english undertones that kept pulling my attention. the simplicity of the english compared to the translations is crazy, a new and complex story embedded in three words #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
I think feeling is what’s being translated here, not meaning or sound. I understand most of the words, but the feeling is stronger. I can feel the sadness and calm in how they’re being sung.
The police station is flowing quite swell. It feels peaceful and calming as the pitches as well as the singer are completely one despite the seemingly chinese traditional instrumentation over the english. Truly making me wonder what is language #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
Tragedy is definitely striking because what the heck is this sound that is coming my way. I feel like this English type of hip hop beat mixing with the singing is the ultimate clash. It's really just jumbling my brain #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
To me, this seems more like a prayer than a lesson on learning English. The slow chanting and the way every word is sung feels calm and spiritual, not like a classroom. In which students are trying to learn something.
'open your eyes' was clear as day, it sounded like perfect english and i am short circuiting trying to understand how it could possible be translated into such a complex and wildly different story. #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
I can now speak along to it, I feel like I will make some mistakes in the beginning, but I can get used to it.
the whole concept of Yingelishi is insane. listening to the opening lines and reading their translations blew my mind and then i had to keep track of two completely different stories happening at once. don't get me started on the instruments #hwa4 #yingelishiparty
