Just pure undiluted joy. #XTCmusic

BRAINIAC'S DAUGHTER - Andy Partridge's love of comics bleeds through into his songwriting as it does on this track. The song inspired of the creation of an actual DC Comic character called Brainiac's Daughter (she was also known as XTC). dc.fandom.com/wiki/B...

I did not know that about You're My Drug. It would definitely work as an opener. #XTCmusic

SHINY CAGE - A song that Colin originally wrote during The Big Express era and offered it up as a track for the 1984 album. Due to it sounding too 'Beatle-y', it wasn't included. #XTCmusic

Newspaper clipping from Northamptonshire Evening Telegraph - Sat 22 Aug 1987. Text reads:

"The Dukes of Stratosphear: Psonic Psunspot (Virgin V2440) To cut a long story short, The Dukes are really XTC by another name and this is their second set of psychedelic pastiches.

To the unlimited it's not quite clear if it should all be taken as a joke (doing for flower-power what Spinal Tap did for heavy metal) or is intended as a genuine tribute to their 60s inspiration.

But it certainly sounds like an affectionate exercise and part of the fun is trying to pin down the naggingly familiar echoes running through their musical impressions.
Their Beach Boys skit, Pale And Precious, is uncannily accurate; The Kinks would surely be proud to claim You're A Good Man, Albert Brown as one of their own; and in several places the ring of Revolver-Pepper period Beatles can be clearly detected."

Sweet, sweet jangle. This is the sound of the 90s from the 60s in the 80s! #XTCmusic

One of my favourite Dukes songs. #XTCmusic

YOU'RE MY DRUG - This was another rejected track from the Skylarking sessions. "You're My Drug is meant to be a mixture of 'Monterey' by The Animals and 'So You Want To Be A Rock And Roll Star'... It was an XTC song but it was too much like The Byrds." - Andy Partridge, album notes. #XTCmusic

COLLIDEASCOPE - This track, with lyrics originally written in 1978, uses samples from the British ITV sitcom, Nearest and Dearest (1968-1973), starring Hylda Baker and Jimmy Jewel. #XTCmusic

Newspaper clipping from Halifax Evening Courier - Sat 24 Oct 1987. Text reads:

"The Dukes of Stratosphear - "Psonic Psunspot" (Virgin): Those Wiltshire mischief-makers XTC put on their sixties disguise and step out as a psychedelic throwback, a sort of Sgt Pepper's meets the American West Coast group with lots of twirly colours on the sleeve, dreamy harmonies on the songs and more than a few clever jokes at the expense of the decade that swang. The pastiches are brilliantly and lovingly constructed and the LP is a lot of frivolous fun."
