This photo shows a small, plump bird perched on a branch against a clear, pale blue sky.  Key Details: The Bird: It appears to be a small songbird with brownish, warm-toned plumage, a rounded chest, and a slightly open beak angled slightly upward. Its dark eye and thin dark legs grasping the branch are clearly visible.  Branch & Foliage: The bird is perching on a dark, bare twig that extends diagonally upward to the left. In the bottom right corner, there are green, serrated leaves and small fruit-like clusters along the branch.  Background: The background is a soft blue sky.

First birds of my day: a Carrion Crow harassing a Red Kite, while watched by a trio of Magpie from various rooftops. Meanwhile, a lone Canada Goose honked overhead obliviously.

Global October Big Day!

Challenging birding conditions today (very windy!) - we finished the day on 45 species. The highlight of was seven Sanderling that flew past Cow Harbour - just the 16th Calf record and the first record for October. 💪

Back from another week on Scilly. A pretty dire last two days meant the trip total stumbled to 112 species but some good birds seen still. Also the first time I’ve not had a Scilly tick but still great to be back and roll on next year. #ukbirding 🪶
