Chestnut & Dark Chestnut comparison (if I am right!), 3 Merveille du Jour, 2 Figure of 8’s, Black Rustic most numerous 13, SMW, Angle Shades, Mottled Rustic, Beaded Chestnuts, Gold Triangle & a mystery Eudonia sp #teammoth

Hardly surprising, given on and off rain all night and strong gusty wind, only 37 moths last night of 18 species, with new for the year a Beaded Chestnut, Brick, Brindled Flat-Body and Oak Rustic.

Aha! The mystery is (probably) solved. A huge Holm Oak hiding in plain sight on the opposite corner to where I usually walk, just under 500 metres away from home. The Spiny Hook-tip didn’t make the hole in the acorn though…😁

The Littlestone (SE Kent) garden moth traps have been really poor the last few days

Cypress Carpet was new for the year and now taking pics of a Pale-backed Detritus Moth (Monopis crocicapitella) - which about sums it up perfectly…

I found this Phyllonorycter mine on a Field Maple planted as a street tree. It looks a lot like P. johannisi, though I know this is not usually found on Field Maple. Any thoughts @vc28nature.bsky.social? #teammoth

Merveille du Jour (Marvel of the Day, although interestingly some moth-ers go Germanic and "Wonder of the Day" as if we don't have the word "marvel", hahahah), it was one of 9 species, just 23 moths to the UV #teamMoth
