"And, of course, there was a certain kind of person, one of the worst kinds of person, who seemed to live with a voice continually telling them how great they were, and who felt victimized because their perfection was not universally acknowledged."

“If you ever drive through Virginia on the new interstate highway between Christianburg and Salem, and you feel a slight dip in the paving under your wheels, then loose thy shoe from off thy foot, for the place whereon thou drivest is Jean White’s horse.”

"Punctuation marks dictate the message, making words seem secondary, teetering us on the edge of an Oxford comma, hesitating at a shy semicolon, reversing course with a swung dash, or sliding down slippery inclines without our having been exhorted to pause."

I'm a shameless sucker for a good spy thriller, especially if Russians are involved. My #sundaysentence this week is from Red Sparrow by Jason Matthews: "If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one." (Went from this novel right into the sequel and it was pretty good, too.)
