Spotted this young deer in the corner of a field just as the light was beginning to fade. Busy eating, he obligingly looked up on hearing the sound of my shutter. Guess those ears really work. 🙂

The Berry Banquet #ShareMondays2026 #FoxOfTheDay

Enjoyed watching this dog #fox snuffling up #YewBerries last week! They’re #poisonous to people & most animals but NOT foxes 🦊 More info in Alt! #nature #wildlife #mammals @ldnwildlifetrust.bsky.social @rbgkew.bsky.social @chrisgpackham.bsky.social

This is a photograph of a male red fox foraging on a path for red berries. They’re from a mature yew tree! Yew berries have a sticky, sweet, jelly-like flesh that is technically edible for humans, but the hard seed inside is deadly poisonous! Apparently the flesh tastes like lychee, but there’s no way I’d try it them! Foxes, however, CAN eat yew berries, and they often do. The sweet, red outer part of the yew berry (called an aril) is fully digested by the fox. The seed inside the berry contains dangerous toxins, poisonous to many animals and humans. A fox's digestive system passes these toxic seeds completely intact and undigested. The hard seed coat prevents the poison from releasing into their bodies. They usually suffer no serious ill effects from eating the berries, though eating a large amount can sometimes lead to messy, brightly coloured scat full of the hard seeds! And this mature dog fox, known to many as Sebastian (I didn’t name him 🤣) was absolutely hoovering them up! Here’s the image description for the visually impaired:

The fox dominates the upper left and centre of the frame, leaning his body forward to forage. His head is tilted down, with his eyes narrowed and his snout to the ground. A tiny red berry is visible right under the tip of his black nose as he scoops it up with his tongue. His fur is a rich mix of bright orange and russet tones on the head and back, contrasting with a patch of white fur along the jawline and under the chin. His large, upright ears are lined with dark fur on the outer edges. The front legs are covered in brown to black fur, ending in claws resting on the ground. The ground is a rough, textured grey pavement. It’s densely littered with small, crushed and intact red berries, along with tiny green pine needles. The background is softly blurred. It transitions from a dark, shadowed area behind the fox into a brighter, soft green grassy patch on the upper right, keeping the main focus entirely on the fox's activity.

Twilight shot. I borrowed a SonyA7CR for a few days. it might be a great camera and I am happy with the result, but the menus are a nightmare. #sharemondays2026

Columbia Road Flower Market

#FSprintmonday

A soft image of pastel tones; pinks, yellows, greens. It is created with several overlaid images of flowers, so the shapes of petals and flower heads are visible, but no flowers are themselves clear to see.

The photographs came from Columbia Road Flower Market in East London on Sunday morning, 27 September 2026.

Really looking forward to seeing everyone’s inspiring and creative work submitted for #ShareMondays2026 today, it’s always a joy to see a vibrant and creative response on a Monday.

I’m sure it’ll be a tough shortlist task.

Who’ll be celebrating this week and taking on the judging mantel next week?

This birch was gently revealed out of a thick mist one evening last week, and was showing the first small signs of autumn colour.

It's a headland. I made this image from Glenbrittle. It's minimalist. If you hate over exposed highlights and under exposed shadows, you'll hate this image!

An in camera 2 shot multiple exposure, that I took in the local woods. The Birch trees are overlayed in the running river beside me.

A 2 shot multiple exposure in camera of some birch trees overlayed onto a picutre of the river running beside me. Just another little experiment for me.

Patterns in light and shade for #Sharemondays2026

A large round terracotta planter holds an agapanthus with glossy green strappy leaves. The shadows from a slatted garden chair fall across the planter, producing curved stripes on the planter and straight ones on the patio where it sits. A small green plant catches the light at its foot.

This week it is just a beautiful tree standing in the middle of a field taking all forms of weather thrown at it, but yet still the opportunity of shelter underneath its foliage.
