Light Magic is sort of "fueled" by positive/virtuous intentions, and is often (but not always) tied to religions.
It can be powerful, healing ailments other magic can't and purifying darkness. But its difficult to wield, especially in combat.

Day 28. Magic associated with light or darkness.
The scythe.

@kiraofthewind.com.
Depends on where you are and which deity you've contracted with. There are definitely some who provide dark/light magic, literally.
In my previous WIP, one character had magic that allowed him to go 2D by "sinking into his own shadow".
There is no "light" or "dark" magic in AElit. Simply the belief that prayers, healing, and other such works are more effective during a full moon because Argyros' gates are open.
(It actually makes no difference.)
28) light/dark magic
I do have the light/dark dichotomy in my magic system. I decided to go with that because I think calling it white/black magic is kind of... icky?
So I have regular magic and dark magic.
Dark magic is like the Dark Side of the Force. Taboo.

Day 28
Magic in this realm is raw, not defined by light or darkness. It'll be how the people use it that will make it one or the other.

For Dust and Shadows,
I’ve mentioned it before but this would connect to Peter and Tinkerbell.
Peter first use of darkness is animating his shadow. So far this is the only instance of darkness based magic he uses

Ah, shoot! I should have waited until today!
Light and Darkness are alchemical principles and govern all kinds of energy (or lack of it)!

The short answer is, no. Astra and Umbra are treated as being completely separate Powers from Magic. They are also utterly separated from Aura/Qi, Ether, and Psionic forms of Power.
As for if they can create day or 🧵
In Necromancer's Oath, necromancy is dark magic, and natural magic is light. That is solely based on the color emitted when the magic is visible.
Arguably, both are equally likely to heal or kill.
Light and Dark are certainly two of my 18 primary elements. To create day or not you'd need Ūrjā in Fah-Drael, or be powerful enough to move planets in Tey 'Ra 'Tah. It's not very impressive to change night to day in Esraidambôl, your mood can do that.

Celestial magic functions on the manipulation of opposing forces. Light and darkness are first principles for learning it.
This is why Uriel, as angel of both Darkness and Light, is basically the embodiment of celestial magic.

#TheDragonblood: Creating fire is so basic mage kids need to be taught how not to make it accidentally. Creating light is still considered raw (unskilled) magic, but does need to be learnt.
Creating magical darkness is harder, involving more manipulation of light.
I have a light user and a dark user. For light, they are able to emit light from their body (a walking nightlight) and create flashbangs. For dark, it's mostly used to see in the dark, but they could probably also blend seamlessly into shadows
#SeptemberWorldbuilders, hey there, friends! Our last day of light and darkness: If your world has magic, are there spells or any kind of magic associated with light or darkness? Either symbolically or literally? Tell me about them!
#TheDragonblood: Akewan myths tell of various gods associated with light or darkness. (Am I just taking Greek gods and figuring out what their names would've ended up as in Akewan? Shush.)
There's Diw, god of the sky and daylight.
There's too much stuff to yap about, a lot of which I'm not ready to disclose, but:
In my previous WIP, a god of darkness helped the main cast a lot without ever showing up on page lol. He wasn't even named.
The Caldera family is sunlight! Both lovely and very effed.
Alejandro Caldera-Altaha is the MC who represents sunlight! He hates it. (Antonio Chandrani-Rivera, the ocean-and-darkness [moon] mage, seems v fond of him.)
Main short story: flowerymoon.itch.io/blue-horizon...
CONT. Darkness question. So Herrera family is The Dark among the many Elemental families.
Here's one of my later Blue Horizon books' first draft snippets revolving around twins Armando and Antonio Herrera-Rivera fighting through the darkness inside them.
(Barely edited.) #SeptemberWorldbuilders
