@bandbee.bsky.socialLynyrd Skynyrd (1964–present)
"Sweet Home Alabama", "Free Bird", and the worst luck in rock: a 1977 plane crash killed singer Ronnie Van Zant and two bandmates days after their new album shipped. Southern rock's anthem-makers and its great tragedy.
@bandbee.bsky.socialDavid Bowie's "Heathen" (2002) reunited him with producer Tony Visconti for the first time since 1980, with guests like Dave Grohl and Pete Townshend. It was hailed as his best album since "Scary Monsters". #RockHistory #ArtRock

@bandbee.bsky.socialDuane Allman (1946–1971)
Slide-guitar genius and the secret weapon on Clapton's "Layla", dead at 24 in a 1971 motorcycle crash. He packed more soul into a few years than most manage in a lifetime. Skydog.
@bandbee.bsky.socialDie Best-of "Nirvana" (2002) enthielt erstmals "You Know You're Right", aufgenommen 1994 in Nirvanas letzter Studiosession vor Kurt Cobains Tod. Sie stieg auf Platz 3 der Billboard 200 ein. #RockHistory #Grunge
@georgiosmasman.bsky.socialNo need much talking, just listen to the album's opening tracks (Hanging On the Telephone, One Way Or Another, Picture This). Parallel Lines wasn't a gas.

@bandbee.bsky.socialThe Allman Brothers Band (1969–2014)
Southern rock's twin-guitar pioneers, dogged by tragedy — Duane died in a 1971 motorcycle crash, and bassist Berry Oakley died the same way, a year later, blocks from the same spot. The blues made them, and the road took them.

@bandbee.bsky.socialNearing 30, Robert Smith wanted a more enduring work, so "Disintegration" (1989) returned to the Cure's introspective gothic rock. Its single "Lovesong" peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100. #RockHistory #Goth
@bandbee.bsky.socialMotörhead's "Ace of Spades" (1980) is their most commercially successful album, hitting No. 4 in the UK and serving as their US debut. In 2020 Rolling Stone ranked it among the 500 Greatest Albums. #RockHistory #Metal
@bandbee.bsky.socialRonnie Wood (b. 1947)
He jumped from the Faces to the Rolling Stones in 1975 and never looked back, surviving every excess the band could throw at him. Painter, joker and the Stones' eternal new boy after nearly 50 years.
@bandbee.bsky.socialSlayers "Christ Illusion" (2006) brachte erstmals seit fast 16 Jahren wieder Drummer Dave Lombardo zurück. Das kontroverse Cover sorgte für alternative Versionen, in Indien wurden alle Bestände eingezogen. #RockHistory #ThrashMetal
