Direct impacts from TCs in SoCal are rare. The only time a TS watch or warning has been issued for that area was for Hilary in 2023, and the only known landfall in #SoCal was a tropical storm in 1939.

Regardless, #Rachel will likely produce huge rainfall this weekend.

The 8am PDT forecast for #Rachel #18E now shows Rachel as still a tropical cyclone as it moves inland over far northern Baja California and crosses into Southern California. Notably, some of the models suggest a landfall in #SoCal between LA and San Diego instead.
