"There’s attempts to think about whether we can use right-of-ways as places that we can create pollinator corridors so that the monarchs can move through these industrial agricultural spaces." - Will Wright

The bees are still on the asters.....wait a minute, that's not a bee! This is a Goldenback Fly an uncommon type of flower fly and also a pretty good bee mimic.

Some bumblebee species in MN have long tongues allowing them deep into flowers like the bottled gentian to reach the sweet fall treat of nectar & pollen nestled inside. They're also strong enough to pry open the petals to crawl in. πŸ’ͺπŸ‘…πŸͺ»πŸ

A hummingbird with its head turned to the left and its beak drinking nectar from the base of a yellow flower (among many yellow flowers and green stems). I think this is a young male Costa's hummingbird with its white underside and small black spots on the chin. He has black spots on the underside of his tail, a green back, and his black wings are in motion and their translucence allows a blue/gray light to pass through. Behind him are circles (bokeh) of blue sky and green leaves.
