Mike Tapp, Labour MP for Dover and Deal, said in a statement on Facebook
that he was in touch with the police about the disturbance.

“Parkrun cancelled and port access disrupted. I am fed up with idiots coming
to Dover to cause disruption,” he said. “I bet if you asked any one of those
‘protesters’ they wouldn’t know small boat crossings are down by 40 per cent
and we are working hard to fix the mess. Go home, enjoy your weekend/get a
job.”

Tapp, a former immigration minister, later wrote on X: “Concerns around
illegal migration are not racist. I've said that many times. But what we saw
today in Dover is against our laws and not fair on residents.”

Nigel Farage, whose rightwing Reform UK party has vowed to use the navy to
turn back migrant boats in the English Channel, posted on X: “We will not rest
until the boats are stopped forever.”

Robert Jenrick, Reform’s treasury spokesperson, told reporters he hoped the
police would take “all the necessary actions” to reopen the port and said it was
“disgraceful” that businesses and individuals were having their lives disrupted.
“I'm sick of people disrupting life in this country,” he added.

I simply do not understand what's going on in Labour that renders its
leaders incapable of finding a TV camera and speaking out against
street violence. Even if you assume they agree about immigration,
violence is wrong, unpopular AND against the interests of any even
vaguely left wing govt.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “The right to peaceful protest is
fundamental to our democracy, but we condemn the behaviour in Dover and
the travel disruption it has caused. We appreciate the frustration of those
‘who have been impacted today. Access to the port is now restored and traffic
is flowing. Those travelling to the Port are advised to allow for extra travel
time and to follow guidance from providers.

The group's founder Daniel Thomas (AKA Danny Tommo)
posted that this gathering was the group's “warning”. He
also released a video from outside Western Jet Foil, a
facility in Dover used to process incoming asylum
seckers, showing masked men spraying graffiti reading
“Blood is on your hands".
In a recent interview with Dan Wooton, Thomas
explained the group's purpose simply: “What we are
looking at here is taking control of this country”. The
intimidatory tactics seen in Dover seem like the first
step in the plan.
