Dr Science doing #ParshaChat in bed this time to coddle my sciatica. writing on the laptop at an angle is still better than on the phone.
A0: Same! 'tis the season, I suppose. #ParshaChat
I'm hoping we can get back to also doing a weekday #ParshaChat session at some point. Maybe once I get past the arthritis flare I'm currently experiencing.
This part *and* the first part, I figured we really can't ignore either part while looking at plants and animals. This is the kind of parsha that makes me really wish we were still doing #ParshaChat twice a week.
Oh, I'm glad you picked this part! #ParshaChat
Q1: Today, we'll look at plants and animals in both versions of the creation story, starting with the first version in Genesis 1:1-2:4. Looking through the verses, what do you notice about plants and animals? Where are they mentioned, and what do you make of this?

A0 Dennis Fischman in Somerville, MA, hoping this persistent cough stops persisting soon. #ParshaChat
This year's #ParshaChat theme will be plants and animals! Our last couple of themes have been fairly abstract, and I'm excited to do something more concrete this time around.
A0: Shabbat shalom #ParshaChat! I'm Rabbi Ruti Regan, here to moderate and looking forward to the conversation!

Also: It's officially After The Chagim, and we're past the holidays and starting the regular part of the new year. How is everyone doing?
This year’s theme for #ParshaChat text study is plants and animals.
If you have questions about #ParshaChat or how to participate, please feel free to @ or DM Rabbi @RutiRegan.bsky.social with questions!

A4 I wrote a book when I was in my 20's that I am still glad to see in print in my 60's. I have also tutored a lot of students, cooked a lot of meals, and supported my wife, shul, and community in a variety of ways. But Shabbat and rest are important, & so is appreciation of the world. #ParshaChat
I'm reading this as it's wise to do the mitzvah of going to a house where someone is sitting shiva and supporting them in their grief. If you have a choice between making a minyan to help someone say kaddish and going out for a night on the town, the choice should be clear! #ParshaChat
A0 Dennis Fischman in Somerville, MA. checking in one day late after being away for a one-year-old's first birthday party. #ParshaChat
I fell asleep around 4:11-4:12 trying to post, sitting up with my phone in my hands. Woke after #ParshaChat finished, slumped half over, with a crick in my neck. Then laid down for an hour. Now I’m catching up with the end of the chat!
