Well that was ridiculously convenient.

Everyone is just a little too close to the camera a lot. It's very interesting but very uncomfortable. These aren't closeups necessarily... Overall I'd say the actors are being framed in ways that don't allow you to relax. #Lolita #TCMParty

Yes!!! I think it's all part of that claustrophobic feeling! They're trying to make us uncomfortable in so many ways! #Lolita #TCMParty

The decor is very cluttery #TCMParty #Lolita

That was not convincing laughing.

She's like a worse version of her alcoholic character in My Man and I 😆 But I find her very funny in this.

God Shelly Winters is so overbearing
* I * want to get the F away from her!!! #Lolita #TCMParty

Camp Climax? 😂

#TCMParty #Lolita

Shelley Winters' constant barrage of conversation and proximity to him or to the audience, the way they're crammed into shots, those small rooms with busy wallpaper patterns and how dark it is in that house... it all makes me so claustrophobic! #Lolita #TCMParty

Also, Sofia Coppola's take on Lolita was similar to mine: I didn't like Lolita but I saw that she had the power. Similar to noir's Femme Fatales: the women have the power and I always liked that

Still pondering Sofia Coppola thinking that Lolita was a bad ass heroine.
I’ve lived too long.

I think Kubrick always had an interest in sexual themes. When MGM turned down #PathsOfGlory, he tried to adapt Stefan Zweig's "Burning Secret" into a film. When POG got off the ground, Kubrick shelved it. Then, Calder Willingham suggested to Kubrick that he adapt #Lolita into a film. #TCMParty

Did I miss why Kubrick wanted to make THIS movie and what the point of this movie is? Because just wanting to compel and repulse us simultaneously is a pretty low bar as far as goals. #Lolita #TCMParty

James Mason is genuinely creepy & perverse in this film.
It actually put me off of him for awhile.

Hello Party Friends. A always overlooked Kubrick for me. Of course I always remember the obvious ones but I have Tweeted this one a couple times so I must like it. #Lolita #TCMParty

"How Did They Make a Film of 'Lolita'?" -- easy, by making her older, cutting out all the problematic scenes and dialogue, and saying "you do the math" to the audience. #TCMParty #Lolita
