Récemment, des gens avaient ressorti tout un tas de critiques de L'Empire Contre-Attaque datant de la sortie du film… critiques où on parlait ouvertement de la révélation que Vador était le père de Luke*. Impensable aujourd'hui ! Pourtant, je suis prêt à parier que les gens qui ont lu ces critiques ont eu cette réaction-là : Un mec lit son journal : « Oh ! Apparemment, dans la suite de la Guerre des Étoiles, on apprend que Vador était le père de Luke ! » À côté de lui, une femme lit aussi et dit : « Naaaan ? Ça a l'air fou ! » L'homme : « Ouais, hâte de voir ça ! »

Pour expliquer ça, il faut d'abord se demander : qu'est-ce qu'un dark pattern ? Gee lit un très gros journal, « Wikipédia, version papier » : « “Une interface utilisateur qui a été volontairement conçue pour tromper ou manipuler un utilisateur” » La Geekette : « C'est la combientième fois que tu cites cette définition ? » Gee : « La troisième*. » Authentique, la première fois en 2025 pour Marre des bannières de cookies ?, la deuxième début 2026 pour L'alternative.

If I attach the slice of bread to the animal's back, this is what happens when I let go. Gee lets go of the cat, who says “Meoow.” The cat falls straight to the ground, landing on its feet. The smiley face says: “(Insert snarky, fake-smart comment from a little smiley face nuisance who's got nothing better to do with his life.)” Well, yes, the cat lands on its feet. We said so. Like, right from the start. The toast didn't fall at all, so there's no problem to report.

Un fichier, c'est une suite de bits auquel on va donner un sens selon une norme prédéfinie : le format (par exemple HTML, MP3, WAV, JPEG, etc.). Gee montre une suite de 0 et de 1 formant le chiffre « 0100 0001 » et dit : « Ça, c'est un octet, soit 8 bits, qui vaut 65 en écriture décimale. C'est un peu la molécule de notre maison. » Un schéma précise ce que cet octet signifie selon le contexte. Si on le trouve dans un texte brut, c'est un A majuscule. Dans une image noir et blanc, c'est un pixel gris foncé. Si c'est dans un fichier audio, c'est la valeur de la vibration sonore à un instant précis. »
