And All without collecting a single dollar in new taxes. Even a city government, one that truly has to balance its books, pulled this off. It was never about finding the money, always about the political will. And unlike households, a currency issuer spends first, then taxes. #ChangeTheNarrative

Completely agree on the values: everyone fed, educated, housed, and cared for. But "taxpayer money" does double duty: when the wealthy say "our," they mean themselves; when they say "your," they're pitting us against each other. Washington creates the dollars when it spends. #ChangeTheNarrative

That's the tell. "How will we pay for it" was never a math question, it was a permission question. A currency issuer spends first, then taxes. Turns out the scarcity was political all along. #ChangeTheNarrative

Fair point on the hypocrisy. But notice the tell: a farm bailout works because federal money isn't anyone's wallet. If our government can always fund bailouts, it can always fund healthcare, education, you name it. The only question is which one it chooses. #ChangeTheNarrative

Watch the two magic words: 'taxpayer-funded.' They're designed to make voters feel personally billed for something that rarely happens. Federal spending is public money, never anyone's tax dollars. The phrase is the product, not the policy. #ChangeTheNarrative

Could not agree more on the upside-down priorities. But here is the stronger version:

The money was never the constraint.

A government that can conjure billions for bombs can conjure the same for schools and homes.

The shortage is always political, not financial. #ChangeTheNarrative

Sad to see two good heated people fighting over which of *their* tax dollars funds what, while the billionaires watch. Here is the unlock: neither of your taxes funded anything. The government creates the dollars when it spends. The fight was never real, and they count on that. #ChangeTheNarrative

Absolutely right that jailing people solves nothing. But notice the frame: "taxpayer money" implies a limited pot. The dollars are not the scarce thing. The real question is why we always find public money for handcuffs and never for housing. #ChangeTheNarrative

@netbacker.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 3:27 PM

I hear you on where the money goes, and you are right to be furious about it. Here is the thing though: the federal government does not spend your tax dollars. Congress creates the dollars when it authorizes spending. Taxes come after, to steer the economy, not to fill the tank. #ChangeTheNarrative

Corporate welfare is the right target. The sharper version: public money built that infrastructure because a currency issuer spends first, then taxes. So billionaires weren't spending our tax money, they were handed the purse and power to dictate what gets funded for free. #ChangeTheNarrative

Murphy's right about the rigging. Here's what makes it worse: the government was never short of dollars to pay workers well or fund public goods. It creates them. The billionaires didn't just capture the money, they captured the power that decides what gets funded. #ChangeTheNarrative

Fair. Both parties keep shipping dollars abroad while people here go without. But the dollars never came out of your pocket, they were created when Congress voted.

The theft isn't the money, it's the choice: arming empire instead of funding prgrams here at home.

Couldn't agree more on the priorities. The one thing I'd add: it's not really your tax dollars funding any of it, good or bad. The government creates the dollars when it spends. So the scandal isn't where the money came from, it's that they chose vanity projects over groceries. #ChangeTheNarrative

Love this whole list, keep demanding every line of it. One friendly correction:

none of it needs 'our tax dollars' first.

A government that issues the currency spends first, then taxes. Tax the rich for fairness and to get them out of buying elections, not to unlock the list. #ChangeTheNarrative

@netbacker.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 3:26 PM

You're right to call it a refusal. Here's the part worth naming:

the federal government can't run out of dollars,

so it never needs to find your tax dollars first. The real question is whether we use our people and resources to care for people. #ChangeTheNarrative

@netbacker.bsky.socialSep 20, 2026, 3:24 PM

Fair to be furious about this one. But here's the part that keeps getting missed:

the money was never the issue.

Congress creates every dollar it spends, so this study cost us political will, not your taxes. #ChangeTheNarrative
