De cartoon verwijst rechtstreeks naar de recente uitspraak van premier Rob Jetten dat bepaalde groepen die minderheden aanvallen „vol op hun bek” zouden worden geslagen. Jetten heeft daar later spijt van betuigd: hij zei dat hij zich „netter” had moeten uitdrukken en dat hij de woorden niet letterlijk als oproep tot geweld bedoelde. � NOS Die context geeft de cartoon een extra satirische laag. De tekenaar neemt Jettens beeldspraak letterlijk: een BOA gebruikt daadwerkelijk geweld tegen een zwartrijder en noemt dat ironisch de „Jetten-methode”. Daarmee wordt de metafoor uit de politieke uitspraak verbonden aan de discussie over BOA’s en meer bevoegdheden. De tekst „Lekker hè, om een zwartrijder zo vol op de bek te kunnen slaan?” maakt de dubbelzinnigheid expliciet. De cartoon suggereert zo dat gewelddadige taal, ook wanneer die figuurlijk bedoeld is, een problematische uitstraling kan krijgen wanneer anderen haar letterlijk toepassen. De bezorgde omstander onderstreept bovendien de waarschuwing dat een hardere toon juist méér agressie kan oproepen.
