Fires in north-central WA and southwest BC flared up again on Sunday, with smoke off the #Border2Fire and #BrunswickComplexFire, along with a plume near the #PtarmiganFire and an unnamed fire on Vancouver Island. More smoke the next few days, late week rain helps. #wawx #bcstorm
Last Saturday (9/12), @yvrwxwatcher.bsky.social and I drove thru some of the #BrunswickComplexFire burn scars near Boston Bar, BC. These photos, from the Trans-Canada Highway, are a great example of what a large fire’s burn scar looks like, only weeks later. #bcstorm #ShareYourWeather
Not bad for a mid-September beach day in #Vancouver — it was hot in the sun, enough so that people were in swim suits w/ some even taking to the water which was clear after a recent dry, calm stretch.
A change in the pattern coming right on cue on Tuesday!
There is nothing like a walk around the Vancouver seawall at Stanley Park (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh: X̱wáýx̱way)— what a gorgeous day with sunshine. wispy cirrus and temps near seasonal at 18°C (22°C inland) on this last weekend of astronomical summer 2026!
Seems like we’ve had a few good tosses this past week. Did you feel it, BC? #YVR #earthquake #bcstorm
Check out this drone video I took in Lytton, BC, on a recent trip around the province. What a neat place...the confluence of the Fraser and Thompson Rivers...worth a visit if you are in the area! #bcstorm #bcwx #DroneVideo
Good morning from the Othello Tunnels in the Coquihalla Canyon just outside of Hope BC as @matthewpfabwx.bsky.social and I do the circle route from Vancouver, to Lytton to Lillooet, to Whistler!
A beautiful, sunny and warm day as a low moves into our south!
Over the BC Lower Mainland with do lots with little… this cumulonimbus cloud producing a couple lightning strikes over Abbotsford BC at around 445p PT today.

I’m home so back to our usual programming of convection dying as it moves into the more stable atmosphere of Metro Vancouver lowlands losing the additional lift provided by the mountains. 😝
View from Cambie Bridge looking NE at 3:05p PDT
Towering cumulus clouds over the North Shore Mountains making it known in what direction the upper level winds are moving… thunder heard toward Silverdale (Mission) where the updrafts are a bit more robust.
Can’t chase today to so be sure to take pics & tag me!
