Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is:
#Seabirds
Black guillemots,or tysties in #Scotland, are rarely seen far from coasts. Recently they have adopted ferry terminals as nesting areas. This one was at Brodick, seen whilst we were waiting for the Calmac ferry to #Arran.

The strikingly located Lochranza Castle, standing on a spit of land projecting out into Loch Ranza near the northern end of the Isle of Arran. The origins of the castle date back to the 1200s, though much of it was built in the 1400s. More pics and info: www.undiscoveredscot...

Lochranza Castle. The image shows a view from a grassy shore over part of a bay at low tide to a promontory extending across the centre of the frame and sea beyond it, with the hills of land in the distance. There are two yachts in the bay, one completely above the tideline. Slightly to the left of the centre of the frame is a grey stone tower house that is complete to wall head level but without roofs. The sky is cloudy and the light subdued.
