The soil clings to our stories
in seeds, bones, and quaking rocks,
always true, often ignored.

Reveling in the silence
before the patter of rain,
mourning the silence after.

The path you travel erodes.
Steps exact a toll on both
and tighten the bond between.

Time blurs as you’re hauled beneath.
You lie among blood-stained roots.
The soil claims you, unhurried.
