#ChrisHipkins:
"When real wages have fallen, power prices ⬆️, insurance prices ⬆️, rates ⬆️...all by more than 20% in just the last 2 yrs, will he now admit the Cost of Living Crisis is not only not over, it's getting worse under his leadership?"

Obviously the Māori electorates are very different to the general electorates, but I feel the fear of overhangs may be overblown. It's looking more and more like Labour are going to pick up a big haul of electorates, likely including many National-held ones no one is looking at. #nzpol

This is the commitment we've been waiting for since the day this Government ripped away their right to fair pay.

It’s time to vote for change. It’s time to vote for pay equity. ✊💜 #nzpol

Get citizens more involved in major political decisions through citizens' assemblies. OPP +0.6, Greens +0.6. Both groups agree, and to the same degree. The last of the agreements. https://kiwivalues.nz/research/top-and-greens/ 17/18 #nzpol #nz

Chart for the statement Citizens should be involved more with major political discussions (Citizens assemblies). OPP average +0.6, Greens average +0.6. Averages only, no middle-half range for this question. n = 152 OPP, 172 Greens.

Still no plans to put trains back on the existing lines that serve Auckland's congested North West. It's a neglected National strong hold. It beggers belief that the voters can't see that National are taking the piss.

If Opportunity is grouped with the opposition, the Government and Opposition are each forecasted to win 63 seats on average.

We predict 5 overhangs for National and 1 for Te Pāti Māori, hence a 126 seat parliament.

#NZpol Saw this excellent quote-reply to Simeon Brown’s latest attack on Labour. Worth sharing.

David Peez @RebelEkonomista

"The truck driver in Pakuranga helps pay off a lawyer's loan." No, Simeon. He doesn't. Not a cent.

When the government lends a student money, it creates the dollars and credits their account. No tradie's tax was collected and posted to a law degree. When the graduate repays, those dollars are deleted, drained back out like tax. They don't land in the truck driver's pocket either.

So nobody foots the bill. The worker and the graduate aren't on opposite sides of a ledger. Setting them against each other is the trick, and it runs on the same myth as "add it to the tab", that the government is a household counting coins. It issues the currency. The real limits are real resources and inflation, not a truck driver's tax bill.

"Someone always pays." Sure. Just never the person you keep pointing at.

Regarding the #nzpol Urgency Tracker:

The 54th Parliament data is now frozen as a best-estimate. Errors previously raised regarding duplication and hashing issues have been addressed.

The final numbers are below, however will be revised once the final sessional journals are made available.

NACT1st has deliberately allowed our healthcare sector to become understaffed. . #NZpol #Listener #cartoon

Patient: "I WAS FORCED TO GO TO WORK EVEN WHEN I WAS SICK."
Cartoon depicts a scene in a crowded hospital where a nurse is pushing a very sick patient. Both appear ill.

Patient: "I WAS FORCED TO GO TO WORK EVEN WHEN I WAS SICK."
Nurse: "SAME."

Refers to a RNZ report : "Some nurses working in the emergency department at Auckland's Middlemore Hospital say they have been asked to come to work despite calling in sick.
They say they have repeatedly raised concerns with management about the pressure on staff over the past two months, but little has changed."
