Two young great horned owls are perched next to one another on a branch. One is facing the other one, who is in the middle of a yawn. Their eyes are closed and they have thick feathers that are striped and flanked the left and right sides of their body.
View of the right side of an Antarctic Shag, flying from the left to the right, just inches above the water surface. Its wighs are fully extended as is its neck. Plumage is mostly brown on the wings, with white patches. Neck is black with white underside. Eyes are bright blue. Pink feet are just visible under the tail feathers. Water is blue and grey and green mixed together.
I have not had many opportunities to photograph wood ducks; am grateful that I got to see this one, as well as his lovely reflection, at Neary Lagoon. He was swimming by with the female, his mate, I assume. The male is a striking, deep-blue-colored duck with an oval patch of gold outlined with elegant white slashes at its midsection. His beak is a bright deep orange, with a white slash and a black tip. His eye is bright red. He's got white slashes around his neck and pointing up to his eye. The reflection in the water shows all these as well as the weeds we don't see in the frame.

A female Shoverler swims serenely on rippled blue water, facing to the left. The duck is mottled brown and has dark brown wing feathers edged in white. The Shovelers huge, spatulate bill is bright orange with a grey/brown stripe running down the centre.
