She counted the bells.

ONE...
Holding her left index finger over the glass, her gaze wandered towards the window.

TWO...
Watching the clouds in the twilight skies turned uneasy into a littoral breeze seasoned with salt and sand, as she remembered the ocean's waves washing over her bare feet, earlier on this last warm day.

THREE...
A reminiscence of her severed sanity lingered as every shadow whispered the murmur of the sea.

FOUR...
This memory would be weaponized against her, too, for sure.

FIVE...
But for this moment, the slick rubber tangled around her feet was not important.

SIX...
Her only focus was the sparkling sunlight dancing on the rippling water in her mind.

SEVEN...
The glass started to move her finger over the letters on the spirit board.

EIGHT...
A message from the graveyard cabaret:

NINE...
Why

TEN...
Do

ELEVEN...
We

TWELVE...
Wait?

Thirteen feet of garden hose pulled her away as the hurricane broke loose.

The #hurricane arrives.
Alive.
Its rushing breath gasps
as it races on its path
guided by its one,
unblinking eye.

There,
the sky sings the songs of sirens.
Voices rise with the clarity of calm
as the true sounds of a silent world
announce the passing of the storm.
Tickling, hollowed wooden chimes
reciting lazy, breezy rhymes.
Until the tempest arrives again
to rise again.
Alive.

Sweet face and furry tail
Quick, elegant moves along the rail
Up and further up the tree
In yellowing forest as if to flee
Roaring hurricanes the woods await
Roaming - acorns and nuts are the bait
Every treasure will not be found
Leftovers may grow from this ground

Standing straight against hurricanes
Tall as a tree but not bending
Immovable like a mountain
Fierce as a fortress against all
Flexibility? - It got lost

A hurricane seen from low Earth orbit at dawn, the Moon and stars above the planet's curve; a woman's screaming profile forms in the storm's outer cloud band.

A Robin sits on an Oak bough which is dropping down
My photo of the sea at dusk, last sunlit vision before a storm did brew.

my poem -
Tranquility
Before the storm
Of our perfect passion
Clashing, lust so adorns
Our reasons for being
Hurricane decreeing
It will ever be...
