My Poem - ©️Catherine Beavis

(on a picture of two soaring dragonflies with pink & purple cloudy skies, & a beautiful orange setting sun)
.
Yesterday, i fell asleep
like every night before,
& in my wondrous dreams
you whisk me away
to an island of fantasies,
where dragonflies dance
'neath a setting papaya sun
with their shimmering wings
of euphoria,
where in the stardust zephyr
amid enchantment skies
of moonlight melodies
i find a forever love
enveloped in your arms,
and, as i wake alone
once again
with my heartbeats aria
singing your name
i smile,
knowing I'll revisit this image
in my reveries tonight
& in all of my tomorrow's.

HAIRST

Feel da mareel.
Noo da licht leaves wis aa alone, wi
da mirkin creepin early,
da last o’ da Simmer gone ta rust.
Atween da nicht an da moarnin,
A meadow pipit i’ da girse
hentin da morsels laek a thief afore
da next gale, hellery –
an i’ da eens o’ October, whaar
da cloods hang ta TV masts,
da dark blue licht o’ da
moarnin is
yet ta leave wis fur da sun.
Wir hairst reminds wis o gansies,
Da need ta wipe oot da windaes –
hear da sistimus i da stanes,
da innerdaeks o wir ain world,
bricht callishang,
spaekalation ahint da glass
juist afore eight, as
staris gadder apö da wires ...
Telegraph codes in

Scariest Monsters

Pull over now, lay down your witches’ brooms;
for decorating pumpkins, there’s no need.
All wraiths shall be remaining in their tombs,
most headless horsemen stabling their steeds.

It’s been decided, judging by the news,
the scariest monsters are you and me.

Text of poem -

Retirement.
I have crawled out at last far as I dare on to a bough of country that is suspended between sky and sea.
From what was I escaping There is a rare peace here, though the aeroplanes buzz me, reminders of that abyss,
deeper than sea or sky, civilisation could fall into. Strangers advance, inching their way out, so that the branch bends
further away from the scent of the cloud blossom. Must I console myself with reflections? There are
times even the mirror
is misted as by one breathing over my shoulder. Clinging to my position, witnessing
the seasonal migrations, I must try to content myself with the perception that love and truth have
no wings, but are resident like me here, practising
their sub-song quietly in the face of the bitterest of winters.
