Graphic for the Shimadzu UV-1900i Plus UV-Vis spectrophotometer, highlighting Photometric Mode 1 of 6. On a black background with blue molecular-style dot patterns, the white-and-grey benchtop instrument is shown with its touchscreen control panel. A blue badge and circular icon display a multicolour wavelength grid labelled “PHOTOMETRIC.” The graphic states that the mode measures photometric values at a single wavelength or at up to eight wavelengths, supporting absorbance, transmittance and reflectance measurement. Icons emphasise accurate measurements, fast and easy operation, and reliable results. The text identifies the UV-1900i Plus UV-VIS Spectrophotometer as a “Your 6-in-1 measurement tool.” Designed for analytical chemistry laboratories, pharmaceutical quality control, water and wastewater testing, environmental monitoring, food analysis, and research requiring dependable UV-visible spectroscopy.

I'm going to be running a repeat of my Stories for Science teaching session for the Association for Science Education in October.
Stories for Science Teaching looks at how children's fiction can be used to support and enrich the primary science curriculum. We'll work through a practical framework for finding the science potential in any book, explore examples across KS1 and KS2 with curriculum links and investigation ideas, and look at how stories can go beyond simply introducing a topic.

If you teach primary science and you've ever used a story as a starting point for a lesson, or wondered whether you could, this one's for you.

It's a 45 minute webinar. 14th Oct. 4pm. Free for ASE members, and only £15 for non-members. For more information, and to sign up, visit https://www.ase.org.uk/events/stories-science-teaching

1/2 Got to love a good fart joke - but this can be a perimenopausal thing. Our bowel function is affected by our hormones.

Oestrogen has a tendency to push things along. Progesterone can slow things down. So when we're in perimenopause and menopause things can get a bit weird!

📈 Our rubrics need to shift from being focused on what's missing to what's next. Learning progressions empower a growth mindset by focusing on what students CAN do. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Teachers #UDL #SBLchat #TG2Chat #EduSky
