If Peter Farrelly’s I Play Rocky rides its TIFF reception all the way to the Oscar stage, the Academy has a chance to do something with no precedent: give Best Picture to a movie about how another Best Picture winner got made and that’s the simplest layer.

Anchored by Julianne Moore’s brilliant performance, Jesse Eisenberg's The Debut is a standing-ovation-worthy dramedy with real heart.

Did you sea this photo from last year's #TIFF with moi & Matt Walsh?

It was post-#LittleLorraine: a Canadian sea-based something's strange is in the water caper. Now streaming on @cravecanada.

Meanwhile, #TIFF26 is offering Below, another Canadian sea-based something strange is in the water. 🌊

BABIES: Film gets lost in meandering subplots. Insights left to be spelled out by narration. Once again a group of characters never hindered in their choices by economics. #TIFF

EVIL GENIUS: A nutty true crime film well done by Courteney Cox. Patricia Arquette, David Harbour and the whole cast are having fun with this one. Think I misread the description as being about something else but this worked too. #TIFF

I Play Rocky: A fitting subject for Green Book director Peter Farrelly. Like Stallone, he's made an Oscar winner about a white man whose story was deemed worthy of a movie because of his proximity to a great Black man. #TIFF

John Trengrove’s South African period piece THE SMELL OF APPLES is yet another all too timely examination of the effects of totalitarianism in the 70s. Chris Reed has this review from #TIFF

I Play Rocky is a true crowd pleaser.

A lot of people are going to adore this.

People's Choice winner, I bet.
