Another Bordered Straw, or perhaps even the same moth, turned up to the lamp in the back garden this evening. So a quick photoshoot before releasing it out front

Must say, #teammoth , I’m looking down the garden right now at my trap on a perfect, warm, still, humid evening… with no moth activity whatsoever, and wondering if this is the brutal aftermath of our summer droughts

Fingers crossed for some interesting moths this evening as conditions excellent here in Suffolk. First arrival didn’t disappoint, a nicely marked Vestal #teammoth @bc-suffolk.bsky.social @suffolkwildlife.bsky.social

A quick look at wild service tree and found this. I did wonder about P.mespilella but its only 15mm. Mespilella is a rear and poss disection though. @vc28nature.bsky.social Hi Rob, is this more likely to be hostis/blancardella or should I keep a close eye out for a fresher mine !?

Black Rustic (Aporophyla nigra) - North Antrim - September 2026. One of the more classy looking moths of autumn. Once considered very scarce up here, not now #moths #mothsmatter #teammoth #gcampbellphoto @ulsterwildlife.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social @europebutterfly.bsky.social

Plenty of rain but with an Easterly wind and it was mild last night it was worth a go with two traps in Littlestone garden, SE Kent

Two moths not on my radar a fresh Toadflax Brocade (first in months) and a Blair’s Shoulder Knot….(autumn is racing ahead, usually get them in Oct/Nov)

The increase in spring wildflowers has brought an increase in the number of these day flying Forester Moths (Pollanisus cupreus) that are around at the minute.
