#Obsession is the rare film where the characters are initially defined by how they’re acting, not by who they are. We meet them under extreme circumstances, with few insights into their true nature. That will all start to change once a certain dog enters the picture. 🦮 #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty

At work, too, Clive is distracted. Yes, he’s laser-focused on revenge, but was he at one time a good doctor, a sympathetic colleague? Or has he always been emotionally disengaged, and his daily routine merely simulated socialization? We have no way of knowing. #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty #Obsession

Such a clever shot. The newspaper blocks Clive’s face, denying us his response to Bill’s disappearance – prolonging the mystery. But it also reinforces that Clive’s mind – as we’ve seen – is elsewhere. Is this a new development, or has he always been distant? #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty #Obsession

Knowing nothing about this movie, I think it's wild how this opening scene/sequence seems like a final or climactic scene. Have no idea where it's going... exciting.

Interestingly enough, when the 'TCM announcer' lady mentioned the next 3 movies coming up, they listed it as #TheHiddenRoom, (as know it's known as well), but on my guide, everywhere else and other TCM listings, it is #Obsession. 😊 Just a bit of silly rambling by me. 😁

Film critic Keith Humphreys once expressed a fondness for British noirs in which “brutal people say awful things with perfect manners.” He called #Obsession a perfect example of the “Terribly sorry, old chap, but I’m afraid I’m going to have to kill you” school of noir. #TheNoirCollective #TCMParty
