Today’s trap was a joy to do from start to finish! Just the right amount of moths & some beautiful fresh ones. 2 NFY Barred Sallow & Yellow-line Quaker. Also stunning Merve, the freshest Shuttle-shaped Dart I have seen, G-b Crescents, Figure of 8, Beaded Chestnuts(9) Black Rustics(12)etc! #teammoth

Mothing highlight of the autumn for me was this (rather worn but pretty rare) Banded Pine Carpet (Pungeleria capreolaria) in my garden moth trap this morning. 🎁 #teammoth

I made a last-minute decision to put the trap out under an umbrella in last night’s rain and balmy temperature.

Turned up the second ever White-point for the garden…

This cheeky chappy appeared on a very rainy one last night but although common, has only appeared twice in my garden, the last time July 19th ‘25. (Usual FS is July/August)
Anyway. He flew off and landed on a snail and went for a white-knuckle ride 😆

A slightly moist trap this morning, but well within acceptable limits.

Numbers and variety still down, but it only takes one Moth to make it all worthwhile.

Last night NFG #490 Vestal was that one Moth. Nice to get one of my own.

151/44 in the Darwin Forest last night. Five NFY of Merveille du Jour, Brindled Green, Autumn Green Carpet, Flounced Chestnut and Acleris cristana. Photos to follow if it ever gets light here! #teammoth

Nice trap last night in #Bristol 27sp. Two long-awaited NFG Scarce Bordered Straw and Gem - both quite fresh. Also L-album, Angle Shades, Vestal, 7 Turnip, 11 Rush Veneer, RDP of the migrants. I tend to do well in rain as my trap is under cover #teammoth #moths @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

A wander up the Cromford end of the Via Gellia this morning whist waiting for the car (new tyres). Several common mines and a single Epinotia tenerana found. A sign showing the work being done to combat Ash die-back. Some interesting videos on the 'Life in the ravines' website. #TeamMoth

Despite my best efforts over the last few years, I still hear people say that moths are dull, grey, brown...well, some of them are grey and some of them are brown, but there's so much more to it... #teamMoth

Mild muggy conditions didn’t produce quite the bonanza I was hoping for (36:13) but Brindled Green and Barred Sallow were NFY, plus 2 Black Rustics, Merveille du Jour, Red-Green Carpet (1st of the autumn) and Wax Moth. #teammoth @pmandrews1973.bsky.social @bcwarwickshire.bsky.social

Apart from NFY Barred Sallow X3, this morning's trap was a pretty humdrum affair...until I came upon the dowdy little micro pictured below: Olive Spinner. A quality migrant and NFM, with just 4 previous records in Devon. Presumably a product of last night's weather ⬆️💨🌧️

Disappointing night in SJ93 considering temp of 19C. Just 10 of 7 species but first Merveille du Jour is always a welcome sight. #TeamMoth
