Brother’s Keeper has a “Shining One!”
This song is quite … perfect! 😆 youtu.be/WQvRIDoK1h4

“We need a man to stand as a symbol
and symbols have got to be tall …

… Somebody super like you!”

I’ll be 100% honest, I don’t really have any joke songs since…having a song of that type never occurred to me 😅 I guess the closest would be this because the instrumentation is REALLY FRIGGIN WACKY

This is the closest I’ve got to a jokey song. I added it to the playlist on vibes.

Tiferet feels this way about a lot of people: I hate your face - Alemeda

I'd like to speak to who the fuck raised you
I just wanna know if they're insane too
Do they make everyone around wanna punch 'em in the mouth?
'Cause I know my fist wants to meet your face

@zadafalcon.bsky.socialSep 18, 2026, 11:38 AM

YES.

I added Rammstein's "Sonne" as a joke. The power source for the Falcons' ships is called a sonnensteine (sun stone).

When I gave them that name, "Sonne" immediately was stuck in my head and would not leave. So, into the playlist it goes!

Took a minute to think on this one, because I don't have any songs added as a joke lol Building playlists is serious business 🙃

But fitting in a funny way? Hell yes! This is from Inversion's list, but it fits all of Winter's Wrath at some point.

Obviously, most of the lyrics have nothing to do with my stories, but I can never resist sneaking "It's the End of the World As We Know It" by R.E.M. into playlists: youtu.be/Z0GFRcFm-aY?....

I may or may not hit my characters with a lot at once. 😂

#SongsofSeptember- The ring tone Gretchen has for Raz in Water's Edge: Glancing at the address in my hand, I'm about to head there when Poe's “ba-da-da-ba” from that Alan Wake song, her favorite video game, announces a call from my editor.

If Dido on the Edge were a tv show I would insist on sticking this in the haunted house bit purely for my own amusement

Love Bites (So Do I) by Halestorm
youtube.com/watch?v=FmkHqUwa4zg

This is on Nerissa's playlist. Not necessarily as a joke, but I can definitely see her blasting this in her room, jumping on her bed with the air guitar, singing into a hairbrush, all to her family's annoyance~

#SongsOfSeptember with musicals being Ruby's guilty pleasure, any musical number on her playlist is technically a joke song, including this one:

Imani Coppola - Like You Didn't Know

Liz's cat, Jean-Clawed, is an angel to everyone except her old friend Jamie. At the start of the story he's been looking after J-C while Liz was visiting her parents. He greets her with "Welcome back. Your cat's an asshole."

Instead, it's for the 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 couple that gets revealed later on.

It's a perfect match for their relationship, but it's also completely unnecessary for my playlist. It just makes me giggle.

Not directly. Closest I've got:

I used Take a Hint (Meghan Kabir) in NICEF for Taegen beating the snot out of Alec and his cronies when they threaten Blaire. (Alec has forced Blaire to be his fiance up to this moment)

“For now, I can use it to steer your glider from afar. The only question is, do you trust me?”

*queue A Whole New World (platonically)*

Anyway yeah, added this just 'cause Victor asked Emily if she trusts him right before putting her on a glider, 'cause I thought it was funny XD

Have you added any song to your story playlist as more of a joke, or because you thought it fit in a funny way?

Don't forget to tag!

A card showing today's prompt. It has a rose on a music sheet in the background with a lilac hue, and a gray box in the middle shows the prompt. The title's at the top, and there are song lyrics at the bottom.

Any song you added to your story playlist as a joke?

“What can I say, except, ‘you’re welcome’? For the tides, the sun, the sky?”

This song is for Amanda. It was what inspired me to write the "Fresh Swept Floors" story in Tales from New Darpana Bay v1. A full music video appeared in (1/4)

One song I have for Payton (one of my major side characters in the Harlow Mystery sequel series) is "Freaks" by Haute & Freddy.

The lyrics really resonate with his personality deep down. Seems like a normal guy on the outside, but inside...he's got a lot more going on. 😁

Imagine Dragon’s “Demons” is a song I associate with Dr. Jekyll and his growing friendship with The Mummy, as he slowly opens up his heart and past to him.

youtu.be/V1-VYpUY0U0?...
(Music video unrelated to the story; this is just my favorite rendition)

The Mummy (dressed in his black and gold priestly robes, jewelry and loincloth) and Dr. Henry Jekyll (Fair-skinned, middle-aged, balding gentleman with chestnut brown eyes, auburn hair/mustache, thick, fluffy eyebrows, mahogany vest, purple tie, gold watch chain, and black trousers and waistcoat; claw markings covering his face, wrist, and neck) about to shake hands in amicable glee. Their shadows are those of Imhotep with his raised sword and Mr.
Edward Hyde with his top hat and whipping cane.
Yellow walls holding a diploma; blue-tiled floor, and acupuncture table in the background. Chorus of
"Demons" by Imagine Dragons written on the wall in red ink.
