Little wonder around the woodlands surrounding Pendennis castle this morning. Minimum of 18 Firecrests in relatively small area. Lovely to see so many of these gorgeous little birds #UKBirding #birds

Great to be back on my favourite island, St Martin’s. The Bonelli’s warbler species remained silent this evening. #Scillybirds #UKBirding

Lapland Bunting, on my fifth attempt at Holme this afternoon. I know it's a rubbish photo, but having trudged along the seawall from Thornham nearly every day this week to take it, I'm going to share it anyway #UKBirding #norfolkbirding #birds

Great first day in Isles of #Scilly
Scillonian sea watching was fun: close pods of dolphin & porpoise, year tick Stormies & Grey phalaropes.
Headed straight for distant views of lifer, Sora.
Went back for more after picking up hire bikes, my first cycling in 7 years. Both were a blast

Goodnight Bluesky Folks!

On my way home from work today, I managed to capture a few pictures of a Red kite soaring in the sky with my iPhone 17 Pro!

#Birds🪶 #NaturePhotography #PhotographersOfBlueSky #NatureLover #UKBirding #WildlifePhotograph #RedKite

A close-up shot of a Red Kite (Milvus milvus) banking gracefully in flight against a solid, overcast light-gray sky.
Subject & Action: The bird is captured mid-turn, angling downwards toward the viewer with wide, fully extended wings.
Head & Facial Features: Features a sharp pale gray head, a bright yellow beak with a black tip, and a keen, focused gaze.
Plumage & Details: Shows rich reddish-brown body plumage, dark primary wingtips, white underwing patches, a classic deeply forked rufous tail, and yellow talons tucked close to its belly.A Red Kite (Milvus milvus) is soaring mid-flight diagonally across the frame against an overcast, light gray sky.
Subject & Posture: The bird of prey has its long wings fully spread and its pale head angled downward, looking toward the ground.
Plumage & Markings: Features its characteristic deeply forked, reddish-brown tail, rufous body feathers, and dark primary wingtips with distinct white patches on the underside of the wings.
Background & Lighting: The background consists of soft, pale gray clouds, providing high contrast that emphasizes the bird's silhouette and wing patterns.

Scilly day 1. Trip list now up to 87. Had to get the boat again but had c.40 each of Storm Petrel and Grey Phalarope. Missed the Sora twice so will try again. Other year ticks included Glossy Ibis and Snow Bunting. #ukbirding 🪶

After briefly genuflecting before HM Queen Eider, and testing the breakfast offering at Fjara, we headed north, rejecting twitching in favour of checking various sites while avoiding birders. Turned up Barred & 2 Yellow-browed Warblers, Pied Fly and 3 Otters (two in woodland!) #Shetland #ukbirding

An appetite whetted by an unidentified bunting was duly followed by a rummage along the Burn of Vinstrick near Lund this afternoon - no sign of the bunting but a Water Rail was a canny sight #UKbirding
