THE SURGEON was fun! Fun for someone who likes midnight madness level violence but also would enjoy an elegant contemplation on coming to terms with end of life or retirement. Best bone crunching sound work. #TIFF26

TOY GUN BANDIT is a little pile driver of a hand held movie as it whips you through the fun and not so fun consequences of one dumbass dude’s actions. Dumbass, but also kinda sweet. #TIFF26
Feel like I should see La Bola Negra again when not festival-tired. First impressions: not the Odyssey-killer it’s been hyped as, but the imagery, music, and queer history themes are beautiful. Structurally reminded me of The Secret Agent. Want to know more about its historical inspirations. #TIFF26

A literary game of cat and mouse rather than a literal one, #ATalentForMurder does the impossible — turning the business side of book publishing into a taut, suspenseful and layered thriller. Alden Ehrenreich and Helen Mirren prove to be the perfect foils for one another. #TIFF26
I really disliked CLOSING NIGHT, which I review for @filmfestivaltoday.bsky.social out of #TIFF26 @tiffnet.bsky.social #filmsky

Sixth and last film is Silenced Nights, a movie about the war on drugs in the Philippines. I'm far to tired to write a review, but I thought it was very good. It also doesn't spare the audience from it's difficult moments. letterboxd.com/film/silence... #tiff #tiff26
Tackling sexual assault and child PTSD with a compelling narrative and thought-provoking perspectives, #Josephine is a difficult watch, but an important one. Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan are excellent, but it’s newcomer Mason Reeves who’ll both break and warm your heart. #TIFF26
La Bola Negra is a staggering and poetic movie. One of the best of the year. It makes complete sense why Netflix is giving this a theatrical release. It deserves to be seen in a big screen #tiff26
INHERIT mostly feels like a middling late 90s-early 00s Asian Horror (with a few decent scares), but occasionally has an interesting cross-generational women’s story. Too much CGI and not enough dread. Still kinda fun at times? …and that question mark is intentional. #TIFF26
Rehearsals for a Revolution by Pegah Ahangarani was great. #TIFF26

"Once Upon a Time in Harlem" (#TIFF26) is an engrossing documentary about a 1972 gathering of Harlem Renaissance luminaries.
