This 7" of Music Like Dirt was released as a blank label in Jamaica in 1968. It was also released on the blue Coxsone label in the UK in August 1968 where it was credited to The Lyrics.

The Lyrics included a young Fred Locks in their line-up. In a 2012 interview with Angus Taylor, Fred listed the 5 songs The Lyrics recorded at Studio 1 in '67/'68 as being A Get It, You Made Me Sore, Money Lover, Hear What The Old Man Say and Girls Like Dirt.

Girls Like Dirt wasn't released at the time, but instead its rhythm was used for a Bob Andy tune (Desperate Lover). Girls Like Dirt was later released on a Heartbeat compilation in 1989 but had been re-named as Music Like Dirt, which Fred Locks mentions in his interview. Girls Like Dirt is a different tune to the Music Like Dirt record in the post above.

At the same time in 1968, another young vocal group The Actions were also recording their first tunes at Studio 1. The Actions included Jerry Baxter in their line-up. In a 2023 interview with Peter I, Jerry said they recorded about 7 tunes at Studio 1 of which 3 or 4 of them were released at the time, including Wepp, 'No Bada Gwan So' and Music Like Dirt.

There is a white label 'Muzik City' 7" with No Bother Gwan So and Music Like Dirt on it and also what looks like a 70s repress on the Studio 1 label where both sides are credited to The Actions.

It seems the original blue Coxsone 7" that was released in 1968 was miscredited to The Lyrics and should have been The Actions. There are a number of blue Coxsone 7's from that time which have the wrong artist credits on them, so this would not be an exception.
