Lail Vineyards Mole Hill Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Napa Valley, California It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Inky in color with a short purple rim. Fruity nose of black fruits with cedar and chocolate notes. Full-bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate and very fruity with blackberries, cooked plums, figs, vanilla, licorice, cedar, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, spices, light earth and peppercorn. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious 12 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Elegant and rich. Fruit forward with a soft mouthfeel. complex and interesting. This Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 7 years. Good right out of the bottle, and better with airtime. Another great wine from the hands of Philippe Melka. Good by itself, and will pair nicely with a big piece of steak. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in all new French Oak barrels for 20 months. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $200.

Paradigm Winery Oakville Merlot 2022, Napa Valley, California It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back! Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. Fruity nose of blue and black fruits with light cedar, earth, herbs, milk chocolates and black pepper. Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, blackberries, cedar, licorice, chocolates, spices, coffee, light earth, herbs, eucalyptus and tobacco leaf. Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious Merlot from Oakville in Napa valley. Nicely balanced and complex, soft and elegant. Still young, but already enjoyable even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Showing good potential to become a 94+ point wine. Alcohol is nicely integrated already, smooth and engaging. I had the 2021 vintage not too long ago, and it is very consistent. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will also pair nicely with food. A blend of 90% Merlot with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in (50% new) French Oak barrels. 14.9% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $90.

Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim. Fruity nose and full bodied with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with nice complexity. Showing red and black fruits with cedar, vanilla, licorice, earth, chocolates, tobacco, herbs and spices. Spicy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries. This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Saint Helena in Napa Valley. Elegant and nicely balanced, complex and entertaining. A good quality Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Still young, and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine. Good right out of the bottle and better after 2 hours of airtime. A great sipping wine, that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (80% new) French oak barrels for 30 months. A small production of only 1,800 bottles. 14.2% alcohol by volume. 92 points. $85.

Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 1994, Pauillac, France #AgedWineTuesday Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish/ brick rim. Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with a beautiful nose. Showing black plums, black currants, cedar, dried figs, licorice, dark chocolates, earth, rhubarb, tobacco leaf, light black tea and black pepper. Long finish with soft tannins and tangy cherries. This 32 year old Pauillac is still drinking beautifully, but a bit past its prime. Rich and elegant. Very complex and spicy. This Second Growth Bordeaux needed 5 hours to open up properly, and was not that special right out of the bottle. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel, and still showing enough fruits to balance the earth notes. Robert Parker 91 points. Good by itself as a sipping wine, and with food. A blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot. 12.5% alcohol by volume. 93 points. $200.

Showing fresh cherries, raspberries, light oak, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco and herbs. Medium length on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a tasty and easy drinking Pinot Noir from Santa Lucia Highlands in California. Showing nice complexity with good balance. Tangy and engaging. Elegant and fruit forward. This Single Vineyard Pinot Noir is still young, but already enjoyable even by itself, and will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years. Good right out of the bottle, and good by itself or with food. 100% Pinot Noir grapes were aged in (66% new) French oak barrels for 10 months. A tiny production of less than 1,800 bottles. 14% alcohol by volume. 91 points. $75.

Strong nose of black currants, wild flowers, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, earth, toast, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs and black pepper. Full-bodied with medium acidity and long legs. Dry on the palate with plums, currants, sweet cherries, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black tea and peppercorn. Long finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries. This is a very young Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Needs more bottle time to mature properly, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Will continue to age nicely in the next 15 to 20 years. Rich and fruit forward, elegant and smooth. Complex and interesting, spicy and entertaining. A great sipping wine that also paired nicely with my steak. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged in (60% new) French oak barrels for 23 months.
