@mjrichards.bsky.socialAfter getting in a couple of typers I couldn’t fix, I’m happy to say I have another one that is in good condition. Once I install a fresh ribbon, it will be ready to go into my classroom rotation. It’s a Royal Eldorado Deluxe portable manual #typewriter, made in the early 1960s in Holland.

6+hrs in a car with two VERY excited 16yo girls, driving back and forth from San Diego to LA for a concert. Lots of time stuck in traffic on the way up, and then the excited retelling of the concert on the way home.
You hear a lot when you listen.

And what did I find at the thrift store for $11.50 in perfect working order tonight?
