In her @channel4news.bsky.social post conference interview #LisaNandy confirmed this "would merely provide ‘free personal care’ in the person's own home" – [equivalent to what exists in the failing Scottish system today]. For that, OAPs lose the pension #TripleLock an act of sleight of hand.

It doesn't matter how you spin it; the pension triple lock is going to become a double lock. The wages ratchet - the third element after inflation and 2.5% - will be at the discretion of the government, as far as I can tell.

It's all well + good looking at those pensioners with decent private pension income topping up the state rate but many rely on state pension alone (or miniscule private pension top up)

The UK state pension is currently worth 30-35% of average income. Not nearly enough to live on. The triple lock will need to be reconfigured at some point - maybe at 40% of average income? - but not at its current value. #TripleLock
