"The Fisher Who Died In His Bed", sung by Patrick Rossiter of Fermeuse, Newfoundland, collected by Kenneth Peacock in 1961.
My final contribution is this lovely version of Four Loom Weaver from Janice Burns and Jon Doran @janandjon.bsky.social #trades
Great song, not strictly traditional but fits in very well. And certainly an unusual trade #trades
An absolute classic from Martin Carthy. #trades

A great song from my native North East. And yes, the treatment of blacklegs could be brutal. #trades
Definitely a trade, but as you say, he barely features in the song. #trades
One of the many songs from the weaving trade. #trades

A song about miners and the 1844 strike in Northumbria. As far as I'm aware most of the stuff mentioned in this song actually happened.

The Jute Mill Song, by Mary Brooksbank (who makes a cameo appearance in my current novel), detailing the hardship experienced by the Dundee weavers.
And lovely versions of it here
There are interesting variants of this song that have the boy as a ploughman but in this case a lighter was a type of boat that ferried cargo from larger vessels, so a sailor is consistent. Great little song. #trades
A cute little song ( originally a children’s song which is in the Cecil Sharp’s English Folk Songs for Schools)
