....as long as the audience quite reasonably believe that there are Large Statements Left Unsaid between the two of them. And the skill issue there is overwhelmingly with the show, not the audience, in my honest opinion. #SayonaraLara

So like, yes. "Lara has a phone." "She'll be living like 40 minutes away." "They're obviously going to see each other again." That is all obviously true. But on an emotional level, none of that *matters* to a huge chunk of the audience... #SayonaraLara

But humans are not a rational audience, they are an emotional one - feature, not a bug - and they need an emotional release. And #SayonaraLara deliberately eschews the most obvious source of release for these types of shows when it basically refuses to have Lara and Mari express their feelings

...are missing a pretty fundamental and simple problem that I think is driving a lot of people's emotions.

Endings tend to be about *catharsis*. #SayonaraLara 's finale, and especially its last few minutes - and I'm pretty sure this was deliberate - deliver *almost no catharsis*

idle thought: I will say one thing that's kind of interesting to me about the #SayonaraLara fallout is that.....you've got a lot of people complaining that "Lara and Mari didn't Get Together", and you've got a lot of other people complaining that that's a bad read. And I think a number of them....

you know lara can't have moved that far away because she still has to be close to the cake shop, she has rent to pay now and it's not like she's getting another job with a few months more experience on her resume

It's kind of ironic Rowan constantly talks about how Merfolk are the only ones who can see "The Light" & that they understand "true love", yet he is so blinded by hatred towards humans that he only sees Lara as a weapon to kill off the humans.
