@themonstersknow.comToday is International #SaveTheVaquita Day. I know this because the Oobit cares A GREAT DEAL about vaquita porpoises and their plight.
For those not in the know, vaquitas:
- are the smallest extant cetacean
- are native to the Gulf of California
- are nearly extinct because of gillnet fishing 🧵
@kaseysnow.bsky.socialWant a video to share during #SavetheVaquita Week? Check out this 2.5 minute video about the vaquita and the live stream event! youtu.be/e_DWQnpBG_8
(Shoutout @casswart.bsky.social and @bluejayhere.bsky.social !)
If you stream for the vaquita, tag your stream with "SaveTheVaquita" to get found!
@kaseysnow.bsky.socialYou can help #SaveTheVaquita by creating art and sharing posts all week long! So few people have heard of this animal: let's change that!
Create art, share posts, watch a stream, or just tell someone about the vaquita! If we all do a little, it adds up a lot!
@kaseysnow.bsky.socialCalling all artists, streamers, and citizens of the internet!
#SavetheVaquita Week is Oct 11-17th, and you can help!
With fewer than 20 left, these little porpoises are almost gone and hardly anyone knows about them. Let's change that by flooding the web with vaquita content!
Share and read on!

@moonskyrunner.bsky.socialI will be involved in #savethevaquita
week!
@kaseysnow.bsky.socialThis little game is SO cute and does a great job of helping the player understand the dangers facing the vaquita porpoise! Thank you so much @thebooksnail.bsky.social for making it! I will definitely be playing it on stream, and I encourage other #SaveTheVaquita week streamers to do the same!
@thebooksnail.bsky.socialI made a deck builder, Vaquita Vanguard, for #SaveTheVaquita day (Oct 10th). The cards showcase some conservation activities that are done to help save the vaquita. Browser game playable on PC or mobile.
@artsefact.bsky.socialEver heard of the vaquita? 🐬 It's the tiniest porpoise, living only in the northern Gulf of California. Sadly, illegal gillnets are pushing it to extinction. Protecting them means saving our oceans! 🌊 #Vaquita #SaveTheVaquita #Inktober2026 #MarineConservation
@hothottamale.bsky.socialI drew this for #SaveTheVaquita ! It's 20 vaquitas for the estimated less then 20 left in the wild, it's the last day of the event so please spread the word! These little guys really deserve to be protected
@charliesdragon.bsky.socialTwitch.tv, a site for playing games and animal conservation!
We can't let the vaquita -- the panda of the sea, the little cow -- go extinct.
