Rika no Jikken by Ichinomiya Shuzo (2026) - 3½ ⭐
Sweet melon… not sure if it feels sweeter after toastiness of the Tondemonee 2026. Pear sweet as well. Koji in the back.

Tondemonee by Kanemasu Shuzo (2026) - 3 ⭐
Pear, ripe. Something like a soft taste of untoasted coffee beans? Not quite, but the feel… koji, maybe toasted rice. Simple but tasty.
Junmai Ginjo Sake from Niigata

Fujinofuka Nigori by Ide Sake Brewery (2026) - 3 ⭐
Cloudy, of course. Rice water, making me think of horchata almost. Calm, cool, and collected; but too cool to be interesting enough.

Junmai Namazake by Ide Sake Brewery (2026) - 3½ ⭐
Melon, koji, light hint of rice… and I mean, straight-up rice. Something like egg whites. Quite light after the Shiboritate Nama Genshu 2014, but very clean.

Shiboritate Nama Genshu by Ide Sake Brewery (2026) - 4½ ⭐
Fresh green pears, right away on the nose. Sweet pears on the palate, with something like overripe melon. Flowers. Bold and present, and my favorite sake from Ide (and maybe of the trip so far).

Kainokaiun Junmai-Sweet Hanezuiro by Ide Sake Brewery (N.V.) - 3 ⭐
Sweet and a bit petrol-y — not my thing. I could see it working as a light dessert wine, but it’s just not my kind of sake.

Furoku by Ide Sake Brewery (N.V.) - 3½ ⭐
Koji-forward sake. Rice, rose apple, some pear. Good but not remarkable.
Junmai Daiginjo Sake from Fujikawaguchiko

Daiginjo by Ide Sake Brewery (N.V.) - 3½ ⭐
Clean. Rose apple, melon, and not a hint of koji! 40% polish, and I gotta say it’s a 4 when it comes to honjozos (even if they usually rank lower for me than junmais).
Daiginjo Sake from Yamanashi

甲斐の開運 吟醸 生酒 by Ide Brewery (N.V.) - 3½ ⭐
Pear, koji… lots of pear; ripe melon, some flowers. 60% polish. 3.5… but I like nama sakes.

Today’s Art… Godzilla Sake! 😍
I have not yet tasted this sake, but how could it possibly fail to be anything but bad-ass sake!?
😂😂😂
それにしても、日本の友達がこのお酒についてなんて言うか、気にならずにはいられないな!
