Dappled morning sunlight falls on a tree twig draped with fascinating, strands of pale swag green lace lichen. The strands kind of look like tiny, uneven, organic ladders or unwound strands of DNA. Kinda cool.

An old monochrome film shot of Seattle’s Space Needle on a rainy night. It was raining hard, but I wanted the shot, so raindrops fell on the lens, creating this effect of the lights dancing around it in the dark. It’s a grainy old shot, but I’ve always loved it.

A little female Anna’s hummingbird perches on a bent stem of a vine maple tree that’s losing its leaves. She is mostly gray with hints of green and sits against a clear, pale blue sky. The vine maple has already lost many of its leaves due to drought and the seasonal changes, but the one’s still present around the lower and left parts of the picture are still green with bits of yellow and red.

An altered reality, abstract edit of a picture of a lead lying on the deck. Playing with saturated colors and swirls, I turned the grays of the deck into swirling blues that look stream like, and the leaf has magenta, blue, purple, and yellow with raindrops on it. Very silly.

The rough, grayish-brown trunk of a Norway maple tree rises and branches up and out into the cloudy, whitish sky. Its beautiful green leaves seem to glow with a soft, comforting light. It’s not very mossy because it lives in a dry area.

A tiny striped shore crab, about 3 centimeters across, is jammed into a crack in the basaltic rocks on the ocean side of Proposal Rock on the beach at Neskowin State Park along the Oregon Coast. Its eyes are black, its claw tips are kind of lavender, but turn a mottled spring green and maroon as they go up to the rest of its body, which is also those colors. A couple of cream-colored barnacles are attached to the rock on either side, as well as some very tiny baby barnacles growing on the “roof” of this rock crevice.
