New #HigherEd “guidelines” just dropped in my inbox for this semester

Classes start in two days. My course has 400 students.

Lazy paddle on the Moira River. Encountered this green heron, my new favourite bird. Going to have to paint this pint sized predator!

I saw at least a dozen union t-shirts on display at the #CNE today for #LabourDay.

I have several union branded things, but oddly not a t-shirt.

Remember why we celebrate Labour Day. It's heartbreaking, and the work isn't even close to being done 😢. The powerful and greedy will always exploit the weak and the desperate to slake their insatiable needs for MORE.

Happy Labour Day, folks!

We live in an era that is plagued by organized greed.

The cure is organized labour.

When workers rise and fight for rights, fairness and equality, we all benefit.

Organize, mobilize, and unionize!

Shoutout to every worker, and union member who has fought long and hard for fair wages, pay equality and a safer workplace.

Remember, it wasn’t your employer who gave you #LabourDay! 🪶🙌🏽🇨🇦🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

My job at BCIT was with a union - great benefits and all that. I didn’t pay attention. Months after I left I got notification that a new contract had been ratified and included a pay raise retroactive to the end of the previous contract. Which meant out of nowhere I got a surprise $800. #LabourDay

Labour Day is a celebration; but it is also a call to action.
OSBCU members are organizing, mobilizing, and standing together in the fight for better working conditions, fair wages, secure jobs, and the strong public education system our students deserve.
